Hey there!

This week was pretty good!! We found two new awesome investigators!

First, Matt:

So on Saturday, we went on exchanges with our Sister Training Leaders. During lunch one of the sisters asked a simple question but I took offense to it. I think it was because not a lot is happening in the area and I was a little discouraged. So I went in the bedroom and said a prayer. I told Heavenly Father that I didn’t believe that there were people who are prepared to accept the gospel and be baptized in this area. I challenged Him (I’m repenting for that) to show me that there are. This ward has not had a baptism in way over a year. There are A TON of Jewish people and Muslims here. It has seemed impossible. I’ve been doing my best to have faith, but I have been failing. So after lunch, we went to one street that had a few people who told us to come back. While we were there, I felt prompted to knock on a door. So we did. And we found Matt. We asked him, right when he opened the door how he had seen God bless his life. And then the spirit was there and he opened up. He just got custody of his 3 daughters, he is disabled and God helped him to get better a little bit, and God sent us to His house. We taught him the Restoration and taught to his needs. He told us he had been praying for something like this to happen. And I told him that I had been praying to meet him as well. He wants to come to church. We are meeting with him again tomorrow. The spirit was so strong, and I felt that he is ready.

God showed me.

Second, Josh:

On Sunday we fasted for one of our less-actives. I had the worst attitude about it. Ever. I was so hungry and tired, and we got cookies at church and I didn’t even get to eat it. We went tracting and I had NO faith. I just wanted to go home and eat. I want to throw up just thinking about how selfish and stupid I was being. Especially after what just happened the day before. Well, eventually, we went and ate dinner. Then we went and tracted some more and tried visiting a few people. We went to a members house to use their restroom and as we were driving out of their neighborhood, we saw a guy stuck in a ditch in the snow sitting in his car. We stopped and asked if he needed help. He said he has already tried to dig himself out, lots of people have stopped and tried to push, but he was still stuck. So now he was just waiting for a tow truck to get him out. Well, we knew that we would be no help. So we started teaching him. He is Jewish. But he stopped practicing after he had his Bar Mitzvah. Now he wants to be a rapper. (He says he’s going to be the next Eminem. We’ll see about that.) Anyways, so he said that he doesn’t know if God is real. But we taught him about God and then he said he does believe in Him. So he wasn’t hard to convince. But we kept talking to him and teaching him and he felt the spirit. He said a prayer at the end of the lesson and said he felt closer to God. We are meeting with him later this week. He seems excited to learn more. He said he isn’t sure if he believes in heaven, so The Plan of Salvation will be perfect.
God showed me again.

Faith is a weird thing. I don’t know if I understand it. But I am grateful for the miracles that God gives me. Hebrews 11:1
I also re-realized this week that IT’S NOT ABOUT ME. God will do what He wants when He wants. I’ve had a lot of repenting and changing to do this week. It hasn’t been easy. But I’ve been promised that it will be worth it.

I love my Heavenly Father. And I’m striving to love Him more each day.
I love you too!

Love, Sister Watko 🙂

I’m in Farmington Hills…And it snowed A LOT!!!

So I am now in Farmington Hills with Sister Green and Sister Gordon. There are so many people here! And a lot of diversity in race and in religion. It’s pretty much like being back in Northville. It’s nice :). But we don’t really have any investigators. Not any serious ones at least. We go tracting A LOT. But it’s fun :).

We got so much snow on Sunday. It was awesome. And then, I kept getting stuck in it. We were going to visit a less active. So, I make the turn to get onto her street and go right into a ditch. So this guy comes out of his house and starts helping us. Then a couple more people drive by and push and shovel. Finally after about 30 minutes, they get me out. Everyone kept making fun of me too. It was funny. Then we went and saw the less active, and she was sick so she told us to come back another day. So on our way back, I get stuck again… In the same turn!! So we did all that we could by ourselves, but the tires weren’t even on the ground anymore. So we knock on the same guys door and ask if he can help us. He just laughed and said “I’ll be right out.”. After about 15 minutes, a big old snow plow truck comes and helps us. Still nothing. Then we get another big snow plow truck. By this time I am so embarrassed I felt like burying myself in the snow. (I was still laughing though, cuz it was just so funny!!!!!) So they put some salt down, and ANOTHER, smaller, snow plow truck comes. Now I’ve got 4 men pushing the car and TONS of ice under the wheels. Finally, I got out. That took about another 30-45 minutes. It was ridiculous. We tried to teach the one guy who lived close by while we were trying to get unstuck. I think we will make him cookies or something and bring them to him soon. It was a very eventful night. I shouldn’t be allowed to drive…

I wish there was more to tell you. We don’t get very many responses at doorsteps. We are trying to think of new approaches and find more service opportunities so that we can find more people to teach. But there is always someone prepared. We just have to listen to Heavenly Father to find them!!

I love you so much!!
