First things first: Shout out to Jordan and Michelle!!! Congrats!!!!! I love you both!
So this week was good! It was definitely a learning and growing week.
We taught Lindsey. I guess she was confused about why she was supposed to read the Book of Mormon and why there has to be only one true church. So we got those concerns out of the way. Well, the next day, we saw Wyatt (her boyfriend who’s house we teach her at) and he said that she said that she felt like we were holding out on her. So he went ahead, after we left, and taught her all 5 lessons. We are always so worried about overwhelming people with too much information, but she just wants it all. And it sounds like she can take it. So from now on we are just going to teach her what we know and not hold back.
Sister Pawlecki gave us a referral. And she’s awesome! We met her on Saturday and set up an appointment to go back on Tuesday to teach her. She has a lot of questions that she wants answered and Sister Pawlecki is such a good example to her.
So my temple trip was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the temple so much!! President Gerber instructed us about conversion and becoming. We read Elder Oaks talk “The challenge to become”. I would encourage you to read it if you haven’t. It talks about how testimony and conversion are different. Conversion is when you apply and BECOME something, not just to know something. He talked to us about how we not only need to teach people so that they can become converted, but that we need to become converted ourselves. Here is a quote from the talk:
“From such teachings we conclude that the Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts—what we have done. It is an acknowledgment of the final effect of our acts and thoughts—what we have become. It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become.”
We picked up a couple of new investigators this week. Their names are John and Jessica. They are an unmarried couple living together. They both believe in God but neither of them have faith. They both don’t really believe that He loves them. We tried to teach them last night and it failed epically. They still want us to come back but our teaching was just really off. We all three were trying to follow the spirit but none of us were on the same page and it was just bad. But we talked it over and made some goals as to how we can be better and we are going to try harder next time. Thank goodness for repentance.
We had our primary program yesterday. Our ward is so small that it only took like 25 minutes to get through the whole thing. It was cute though :).
I love you all!
Remember that the church is true!!!
Read the Book of Mormon, it’s true too!
Love, Sister Watko
